The 15th Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics took place on 26th – 29th June 2023. The theme of the meeting was “Immersive Tech: The Future of Medicine”, with a fantastic line-up of scientists, engineers and clinicians in medical robotics and allied technologies. This year’s symposium covered several topics including bioinspired robots, wearable robots, virtual/augmented reality, imaging/navigation, smart devices, all with a strong focus on clinical translation challenges. The event was supported by world-renowned international programme committee, who ensured a timely and robust peer review of the submitted papers.

We were delighted to have distinguished keynote speakers from the USA, UK, and Hong Kong and saw that the affiliated workshops to the Symposium have continued to grow and flourish, with many of them organised by early career researchers. A total of 12 workshops were organised and they covered the areas of: soft robotics for endoscopy, micro nano robotics, robotic systems for surgery training, computer assisted interventions, robotic awareness and autonomy in surgery and open-source software for surgical technologies. We continued to receive CPD accreditation for these workshops from the Royal College of Surgeons and we are proud to deliver a programme that enables to continued professional development of clinicians and engineers in these fields.  We believe these workshops have played a crucial role in providing a platform for the formulation of new ideas and future collaborations.
