Description
Two decades after the clinical introduction of capsule endoscopy, we dedicate the workshop to a discussion of recent research and clinical developments in the field, with a focus on the challenges associated with the integration of different subsystems providing additional capabilities, and on those associated with the use of capsules in a clinical setting.
Among the topics of interest, we will discuss clinical and engineering issues related to robotic capsule manipulation and autonomy, to the finite battery lifetime or the constraints of wireless power transfer, to the quality of visualization techniques, to the constraints of wireless data transfer or local storage, to widespread industrial adoption and market opportunities.
Call for Posters
We are pleased to announce the call for abstracts for poster presentation for the upcoming workshop on “Clinical and Integration Challenges in Capsule Endoscopy,” scheduled to take place on June 25th, 2024, hosted by the Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics 2024, in the Royal Geographical Society, London (UK). The workshop will aim at stimulating discussion on the opportunities and on the challenges of recent research and clinical developments of the capsule endoscopy.
To acknowledge and celebrate outstanding research, we are pleased to announce that a cash prize will be awarded to the best poster presentations. More details here.

Learning Outcomes
The workshop will aim at stimulating discussion among the participants on the opportunities and on the challenges of recent research and clinical developments capsule endoscopy. The full day workshop will include presentations from invited speakers on significant progress of capsule endoscopy, issues and perspectives related to clinical applications, research and innovation directions, integration challenges, market trends and challenges, regulatory considerations.
The programme will also include two panels: one related to clinical aspects, and one to engineering and industrial aspects. In addition, an open call will be offered, with selection for poster presentations. This part aims to give participants broad exposure to the pertinent topic areas associated with capsule endoscopy technology.
