Ferdinando Rodriguez y Baena is Professor of Medical Robotics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, where he leads the Mechatronics in Medicine Laboratory and the Applied Mechanics Division. He has been the Engineering Co-Director of the Hamlyn Centre, which is part of the Institute of Global Health Innovation, since July 2020. He is a founding member and great advocate of the Imperial College Robotics Forum, now the first point of contact for roboticists at Imperial College.

Professor Darzi holds the Paul Hamlyn Chair of Surgery at Imperial College London, the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research. He is Director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London and Chair of Imperial College Health Partners. He is an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at Imperial College Hospital NHS Trust. His research is directed towards achieving best surgical practice through innovation in surgery, enhancing patient safety and the quality of healthcare.

Prof. Yuman Fong is known clinically for his work in liver surgery–especially for helping prove liver resection to be potentially curative for stage IV colorectal liver metastases. For his clinical accomplishments, he was awarded the Layton F. Rikkers Master Clinician Award from the SSAT. Dr. Fong’s laboratory focus is in the field of gene therapy, engineering viruses and immune cells for the killing of cancer. His surgical translational work has included design of surgical tools including imaging technologies, ablative technologies and surgical robots. His work in engineering has led to election to the American Institute of Medical and Biologic Engineering.

Dr. David Noonan has a long history of work experience in the medical field. In 2005, they began their career as a Design Engineer at St. James's Hospital. In 2006, they moved on to become a Visiting Research Associate at King's College London. From 2008 to 2012, they were a Research Associate at Imperial College London, where they developed a series of articulated robotic devices to enhance access, imaging and functional sensing in a minimally invasive surgical environment.
