Professor Marcus Drake was previously a Professor of Physiological Urology at the University of Bristol and Honorary Consultant Urologist at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, subspecialising in neuro-urology and urodynamics. Professor Drake is chief investigator on a number of major studies, including 6 NIHR grants. These include an i4i grant in microbiology (point-of-care testing for infection in GP practices by detecting antigen-antibody interaction in <10 minutes), RfPBs for medical causes of nocturia (PLANET) and a new design of urinary catheter (Flume), and multicentre HTAs of urodynamics in men (UPSTREAM), urinary symptoms in men (TRIUMPH), and recurrent stress incontinence in women (PURSUIT). He has an interest in physiology, currently holding US NIH funding to study parasympathetic neurotransmission. He is Trustee of the International Continence Society, and a board member of the European Society of Female and Functional Urology.
