Omar Al-Ahmad obtained a Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering (2016) and a Master’s degree in electromechanical engineering (2017) from the Faculty of Engineering Technology, KU Leuven, Belgium. He later worked at FBGS International, Geel, Belgium, and at the Robot-Assisted Surgery (RAS) group within KU Leuven’s Mechanical Engineering department to obtain a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Technology (2023). He is currently continuing his work at the RAS group as a postdoctoral researcher. His research interests are related to continuum robots, design and development of catheter drive systems, and methods for catheter shape sensing, force sensing and control
