Joshua Gafford is a medical device entrepreneur and technology executive specialising in the development and commercialisation of innovative minimally invasive surgical and endoscopic technologies. He is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of EndoTheia, Inc., a U.S.-based medical technology company focused on advancing next-generation devices designed to improve diagnostic and therapeutic yields in flexible endoscopic procedures.

Gafford co-founded EndoTheia in 2018 to develop and commercialise novel steering technologies that enhance the precision, accessibility, and effectiveness of flexible endoscopic procedures over a broad range of clinical specialties, including urology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, neurosurgery and beyond. Under his leadership, the company has taken university-developed innovations from initial whiteboard sketches and proofs-of-concept, to first-in-human and commercial release.

Having earned his Ph.D in surgical robotics from Harvard University, he brings more than a decade of experience in medical device design and development, with expertise spanning research and development, product design, intellectual property strategy, regulatory and reimbursement strategy, and business development.

Gafford’s work focuses particularly on the intersection of endoscopy, surgical technology, and digital health, with an emphasis on solutions that expand the capabilities of physicians while reducing the burden of complex procedures. Through EndoTheia, he continues to drive innovation in minimally invasive medicine, working with clinicians, engineers, and industry partners to accelerate the adoption of new endoscopic technologies in healthcare systems worldwide.
