David Noonan, PhD, chief technology officer at Moon Surgical, which is building the Maestro System. Billed as the first collaborative robot for soft-tissue laparoscopic surgery, Maestro earned a CE mark in 2023 and FDA clearance in June 2024. Before joining Moon in 2020, Noonan spent five years in engineering roles at Auris Health and over three years at Philips Research North America working on R&D for minimally invasive interventions. He has a B.Eng in Mechatronics Engineering from Dublin City University, an M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering Research from King’s College London, and a Ph.D. from Imperial College London. He is a named inventor on over 50 granted US patents.
