Her background is in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and PhD in Computer Vision. She is professor at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), in the Automatic Control and Computer Engineering Department. She is currently head of the research group on Robotics and Computer Vision of the Center of Research in Biomedical Engineering (CREB) at UPC. Her research field is in robotic systems and control strategies for rehabilitation, assistance and surgical applications. This research implies integrating knowledge in various disciplines, from sensing, intelligent data interpretation, control as well as in the design and development of robotic systems, for specific application-oriented research. Apart from the teaching activities, mainly in robotic and vision areas, specially at present in the medical field, she has had responsibilities at different levels in the University and other national and international institutions, being at present President of the Science and Technology Section of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (the Academy of Catalonia).
